Deadly Boss Mods Classic Wow Classic Addon
Hello and welcome to my semi-regular (much like my digestive system) spotlight on addons. Here I will talk about addons that may help you with your adventures in Azeroth. For my first installment, I look at one of the most important addon you can install if you do PvE content, Deadly Boss Mods. This overview may be redundant as most of you are already aware of this addon and I have discussed it on multiple occasions in the guild forums. (Sven asks: We have a forum?) However, it may be informative to those who have never raided and may attract new eyes to this discussion.
What is it?
This addon provides warnings regarding mechanics for dungeons, world content, and raids.
Why do I need it?
Unless you have excellent situational awareness and can track buffs, debuffs, spells, and mechanics timing, this will allow you to focus on your specialized role (dps, tanking, or healing).
How involved is the setup?
For most people, there is no setup needed. The only thing you may want to adjust is where the warning bars show up as to not overlap with certain aspects of your current UI.
To do that type /dbm to bring up the config menu for Deadly Boss Mods. The option should be in the Options panel under the submenu Bar Setup. Click on “Move me” and then close the menu. You will then see bars appear on your screen that says “DragmMe!”. Move them to whatever position you prefer.
The big Drag me! bar shows you the timing on the next ability. The smaller bar shows you upcoming boss abilities. There are other options that can change the size of the bars, color, etc.
There are other modules you can download for older content, other mods, countdown packs, and voicepacks.
Is this addon worth downloading?
Absolutely, if you do not have it already installed, stop what you’re doing and go download at https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/deadly-boss-mods
Is there an alternative to this addon?
Yes there is. You can also use Big Wigs which can be found here: https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/big-wigs
For dungeon content you will need to install LittleWigs: https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/little-wigs
Also if you find the noise warnings in DBM to not be informative, I recommend downloading DBM Voicepack VEM. It will override the noise warnings in DBM with actual voice messages. I find this type of warning much more instructive. You will need to change a few settings for this to take effect after downloading/installing it to your interface folder. First open dbm or type /dbm. Then go to options, spoken alerts. You need to change the set voice pack for spoken alerts from 'none' to 'VEM English Female'. Then check the 'Always play all spoken alert box'.
